Making some improvements!

I love my diaper, I worked very hard to make it as perfect as can be. Over the last year I have had many requests about using PUL as my waterproof layer. I always kept that idea in my mind and loved the idea of using PUL but it is more expensive. I've priced out my options and by buying it in bulk it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. PUL is the #1 waterproof fabric used for cloth diapers. Most of the "big" brands use PUL. PUL is great because it can withstand high heats over and over again. I also want to make a diaper that uses the best materials available and PUL is the best. I will start using PUL in January 2010 (if it gets here by then)! I will need to raise my prices a bit to make up for the extra cost. I will always keep my prices lower than most other diaper companies. I know that people are having a hard time with finances right now and not everyone can afford to spend $18 for a diaper.... and it doesn't even have a cute outer print!

Here are the new prices for the new year....

1 diaper/pull-up $11.95
3 diapers/pull-up $32.95
6 diapers/pull-up $62.95
12 diapers/pull-up $119.95

Newborn $9.95 per diaper

The price for the one size fits all the the diaper covers will remain the same!

snap, snaps and more snaps

I have realized since I got my snap press that I love snaps! My little baby can't take them off so I'm happy about that. But I just LOVE snaps! I have even discovered that I love a snap in insert. I still love my pockets, but the snap in insert is so easy. I'm still working on perfecting my serging skills and when I do I'll make a snap in insert available. My one size fits all diapers will have a snap in insert. I discovered that when the diaper is on the smallest setting it can be hard to stuff the insert in with all that folded up fabric, so I decided to use a snap in insert like on some of my fitted diapers. It works great and it's just so easy to snap in. My husband really likes it too because he hates to stuff the diapers. If you haven't tried a snap diaper of any sort I highly recommend it!

What's new at cutiepoops?

Cutiepoops will be coming out with several new items over the next month or two. The one that I am most excited about is cutiepoops new luxury line of cloth diapers. Bamboo velour is all the rage right now in the cloth diaper world and cutiepoops is joining in. Ready made diapers in fun outer fabrics and bamboo velour inners will be coming soon. The luxury line of diapers will not be made available for regular diaper orders at this time. Also cutiepoops is coming out with cute fleece shortie and tee sets. I've been making them for my baby since he rips his diapers off now (lots of fun) So I put a fleece shortie over and the diapers stay on and my floors stay dry! I made a few baby tee's with cute matching fleece shapes. I'll be selling these sets ready made as well. You'll be able to find all these ready made items on the website soon!

One size fits all!!!

I'm in the testing phase of a one size diaper right now. I had high hopes of using adjustable elastic in the back and leg gussets instead of snaps down the front, but after making a few I've realized it's very time consuming. I'd have to charge a fortune to make up for how long it takes to make one. I've decided to use the tried and true snaps down the front version. Since I don't have to wait for button hole elastic to get shipped to me from China anymore, I should have them ready to be ordered from the website in about a week or two.

The new cutiepoops!

I've finished creating the new website. There are new fabrics up, and I've added a few new items on the accessories page. Just a few handpainted signs that I made. I hope you like the new site.

Starting soon I will be having a monthy giveaway. For every purchase made each month ( I haven't figured out if I'll set a minimum purchase amount yet) I'll add your name into a drawing for a free gift. Some months it might be a free diaper, or free doublers, or some other creation that I come up with. It should be exciting, so check the website to see when it begins.

No more vinyl!

When I started out making cutiepoops, I used a vinyl waterproof layer. I had no problems with it at all, until I got a defective batch of vinyl. I just can't chance that happening again...kinda bad for business if I send out products that don't work!! So after doing some research I've made the switch to 100% nylon for the waterproof layer. A very "green" friend of mine is thrilled that I had a vinyl problem because she wanted me to switch to nylon anyway. I'm thankful for those few customers who got a defective batch and understood the problem. I stand behind my diapers, they work great, I just couldn't see this happening... So those few customers got some free diapers, so I think it all worked out well. Now what does this mean for the price of my diapers since nylon does cost more than vinyl??? Nothing!! I figured it out to cost about $.25 more per diaper... I'll happily take that loss if it means I'm sending out a product that won't have any issues. My goal will always be to make a great product affordable to everyone. I don't plan on making millions off of my diapers, this is just a great way to help my family out and help out others while doing something I enjoy!

cloth has made a come back baby!!

Hi, and welcome to the official blog of cutiepoops pocket cloth diapers! As I've entered the world of cloth diapers I've realized that it's a very addictive world to be in. I had no idea just how far cloth diapers have come. After showing my mom the BumGenius diapers I bought she was amazed at how fantastic cloth diapers are these days. I was too!!!

It's true that cloth diaper are a much cheaper alternative to disposables, but they can still be costly. After my first initial purchase of cloth diapers I had spent over $200 and only had 12 diapers to show for it. I knew their had to be another way. A few things got me thinking I could really make a good quality diaper myself. Since I only 12 diapers and I was using them on two boys, I was doing laundry all the time...
no fun!! I needed more diapers for my boys, and I had a friend who was having a baby and I wanted to get her a set of diapers as a group gift. But since times are hard for everyone these days, not very many people could contribute to the massive purchase! I was looking at a large amount that I'd have to come up with to make up the difference.

I thought their had to be cheaper cloth diapers out there that worked well. I did the usual ebay searches and found a gal who made, while very cute diapers for cheap.... they were CHEAP!! They leaked all over the place, they didn't fit very well, the fabrics weren't the best quality. If I was going to spend the time to make a diaper, it had to be a quality diaper. I got back on my computer and found good diaper fabric, patterns and everything I needed to know about how to make diapers. There are a lot of great resources out there and other gals who are in diaper business who are very helpful. The first few diapers were I made were JOKES! While, yes they worked for the most part, I didn't like any of the patterns I had found online. I had a very specific type of diaper shape in mind that I wanted in order to provide the best coverage and absorbency. After several attempts I finally mastered my patterns. I love the pocket diaper I've created. It's very easy to use, works well and pocket diapers are wonderful because you can add more inserts as needed to customize absorbency for each baby.

I've tested them out on my two kids and on friends kids and I've been very pleased with the results. I had a few people suggest that I sell them.. and so
cutiepoops got its start.

I hope you enjoy cutiepoops as much as I do and appreciate the care that goes into each diaper. My main goal was to provide a quality diaper at an affordable price. I've had a few people suggest that I raise my prices, but I'd rather help others make the switch to cloth by providing an inexpensive yet, quality product.
